Description

Estopper Hypatite is a hypalon membrane for use in movement joint or crack in a structure to prevent ingress of water. It is bonded with Estobond Hypa, specially formulated adhesive.

 

Estopper Hypatite has been tested by SIRIM BHD, in accordance to ASTM D412, on the Elongation at Break and Tensile Strength and complied with the  specification in this data sheet.

 

Uses

Estopper Hypatite is suitable for buried joints and over strapping joints in:

  • Elevated structure such as car park decks, podium, walkways and balconies
  • Substructure such as basement, subways and tunnels.
  • Water works applications
  • Waterproof membrane for bridge expansion joint system.

Application Instructions

Width of Estopper Hypatite

Estopper Hypatite is supplied in standard widths 200 mm. It is  for use in buried joints (Expansion, construction and contraction joint) in trafficked surfaces and bridge decks.

Surface Preparation

Substrate to receive Estopper Hypatite must be sound, dry, frost and dust free. New concrete must be fully cured and free from curing compound. The concrete surface ideally should be wood float finished and free from irregularities.

Any honeycombing must be repaired using suitable Estop patching mortar

Preparation of the membrane

Measure and cut the length of Estopper Hypatite and ensure  that it is dry and clean from any oil, grease etc.

Mixing and application of the adhesive Estobond Hypa adhesive is supplied in two parts.

Mix the whole pack thoroughly using a slow speed drill until uniform colour is achieved.

Apply the mixed Estobond Hypa on each side of the joint to a thickness of approximately 3mm. Place Estopper Hypatite on top of Estobond Hypa. Using a hard roller, force the Estopper Hypatite down into the Estobond Hypa until the material come out from the punched holes of Estopper Hypatite.

Apply an additional 3mm layer of Estobond Hypa to hold the Estopper Hypatite. See Illustration 1 below. Estobond Hypa shall be applied at least 5mm wide, as per illustration below.

The membrane should be applied not more than 20 minutes after adhesive application and allowed to cure to ensure that the adhesive is not disturbed prior to laying of asphalt or other surfacing.

Jointing the Estopper Hypatite membrane Estopper Hypatite can be jointed by Estobond Hypa.

Storage

Estobond Hypa should be stored in original unopened packaging in dry conditions under ambient room temperature. Under these conditions, the product will have a shelf life of 12 months. Shelf  life may reduce if stored in extreme heat locations.

Precaution

Ensure adequate ventilation when applying Estobond Hypa. Wear impervious gloves and barrier cream if user is sensitive to resin system. Wear eye protection.
