Estoseal 109

One Part Polyurethane Sealant

Download Data Sheet

Estoseal 109 is a one part, gun applied, and moisture activated polyurethane sealant. After application a skin forms rapidly leaving the body of the sealant to cure more gradually, the rate being dependent upon temperature, humidity and dimensions of seal.

During the curing period, one part polyurethane sealants will accept limited movement normally associated with the applications described. Full cured sealant is capable of joint movement due to shrinkage and thermal changes do not exceed 25% Movement Accommodation Factor related to joint width.

Estoseal 109 has been tested in accordance to ASTM C661 – 98 on Shore ‘A’ Hardness; ASTM C793 – 05 on UV Resistance Condition; ASTM E1399 – 97 on Movement Accommodation Factor and complied with the specification in this data sheet.

For sealing vertical and horizontal movement joints in pre-cast concrete panels and metal curtain walls, window and door frame surrounds and other building components.

Estoseal 109 is a one part polyurethane joint sealant which, on exposure to atmospheric moisture, cures to form a flexible rubber seal.

Application Instructions

Joint Preparation

Joint sealing slots in concrete should be accurately formed and must be dry, sound, clean and free from dust. Remove all dust and laitance by grit blasting or grinding. Avoid polishing the joint sides when grinding. The prepared sealing slot should be blown out with dry, oil-free compressed air.

Ensure that any expansion joint filler is tightly packed in the joint and at the required depth to provide the seal dimensions specified. Before sealing insert a cord or bond breaker caulked tightly into the base of the sealing groove to prevent sealant adhering to the base of the slot.

No priming is required for common substrates, such as concrete aluminium, brick, and granite.

Estoseal 109 is supplied in a non-sag consistency that will gun easily with caulking gun. Fill the joint completely and tool immediately to ensure full contact with the interfaces of the joint.

Estoseal 109 should be tooled to a smooth finish. Good sealant practice encourages the use of masking tape that should be removed immediately after tooling.

Over painting of sealants is not recommended because of the ability of paint film to accept movement. However, if definitely required, trials should be carried out to determine compatibility.
